Love Anconas for this. Awesome foragers, worthwhile size for freezer, fantastic layers, and hatching is a ball because you get to play with colors and markings. It's also quite nice to raise a hard-to-find breed, trying to improve each generation. These guys were the perfect match for me. As for loud - hahahaha I have a couple who are outspoken and oddly it seems to keep being my chocolate ladies. Fortunately the neighbors are distant and find it charming if they do hear them
