Food Taboos?

I could never eat horse, but mostly because I love horses, and could never imagine eating my own. Also, ALL FISH APART FROM TROUT...weird? definitely, but I think it has to do with my parents loving fish and trying to get me to love it lol. Also, CHICKEN LIVERS...my gramma cooks welsh breakfast, same with my dad, and he always cooks chicken livers... and once there was chicken livers with my scrambled egg, and it was JUST SO DISGUSTING, i was so close to puking.

Hmmm interesing topic this, I am a "faddy" eater anyway, I would never eat the following:-

Veal / Goose /Horse / Dog / Cat / Squid / Snake / Insects (of any kind) / Meat Pies / Offal of any kind / Or anything that I have looked in the eye!

Swallowed a fly once - promptly vomitted! I wont go on, the list is endless........ I do LOVE all vegetables though.

Not all sushi is raw. I'd have to say more than half isn't raw, and a lot of it isn't fish! Oddly enough, my cousins who visited Japan said that the sushi variety in Vancouver BC is much larger.

Raw tuna and blue rare steak are mmm so good though. What's a few worms :p

It may have been on another thread where "mad cow disease" was mentioned. That triggered this thought.

Squirrel brains would be up there on foods to be avoided. There have been cases of brain diseases in humans that have been linked to eating animal brains.

my husband said he would never eat .. turnips..

other than that he said he would eat just about anything.. I would have to not kiss him again if he ate a few things previously mentioned here..

unless we were on a deserted island and were having to keep our family alive. then my tastes might change.. garlic may help..

but growing up in Pac North west .. Love seafood!! all of it.. love sushi too.. tried buffalo it was awsome..

But no to bolute, bugs, spiders included.. and anything that smells/looks nasty...moldy, too slimy.

From my understanding on how people get Mad cow disease, from cow brain and the spinal fluid. The actual muscles do not carry the disease. Just goes to show you what all is in hamburger and ground beef.

Taboo- If it's creepy and crawly or any type of fetus, I ain't eating it. Blech.

Have eaten and enjoyed most of it-
Deer
Rabbit
Squirrel
Turtle
Rattlesnake
Bear
Wild Boar
Elk
Salmon (brought home from an Alaskan fishing trip)
90 % of the native fish species
Grouse
Quail
Pheasant
Canadian Goose
Bison
Squid

Love- Most seafood

Would like to try- Some wild African game.

I'm one of the least picky people I know. Pretty much, if I were starving, and someone offered me some dog meat, I'd eat it. Now if I saw the dog before it was killed, probably not. But if someone just gave me some dog meat and I was desperate enough, I'd just pretend it was steak or something and have at it. I want to try rabbit.

I'd try a few kinds of cooked bugs too. I'd love to try snake and crocks, as well as african game.

As unpicky as I am, I hate nuts. Well, most kinds. I'm ok with penuts in the shell and like penut sauce, and pistachios, but that's about all that i will eat as far as nuts go. i just hate them.

Oh something I would never eat though: I saw on a tv show about food from around the world that in a country (cant remember what) they incubate eggs up to about 2 weeks and then soft boil them and serve them! EWWWWWWWWW

I'm in the group of" if I was hungry enough i'd eat anything you put in front of me." However as a general rule, I don't do any baby animals or sea food especially shrimp. I think shrimp tastes great but I can't stand the consistency of it in my mouth.
