Found a chicken on the road and took it home...

I love that you all are so interested and loving. Its good to know I'm not the only crazy one who might see a stranded chicken and take a chance. As I've stated before, you can follow her on Instagram at BigKrispyRescue to see how she's doing. She's a pretty bird, even if she is a little overweight.
I don’t have Instagram either

Just an update on our "little" Krispy. She can no longer walk up the ramp to get into the coop with the other birds (because she is so freaking big and top heavy), but I've built her a smaller coop that she can have all to herself that is on ground level. When I open the coops in the morning, the other birds run out and over to her coop to check on her to make sure she's ok. It's quite amusing. AND...the biggest news of all...it's confirmed. Krispy is a girl!! We've gotten a few eggs from her in the past two weeks. We have Ameraucanas, which as you know, lay blueish eggs and low and behold, we have a few brown eggs in our possession!!

I've just found this thread and it's such a heartwarming story. She is so lucky to have you find her and care for her. It's great she has started laying eggs now. I have six rescue hens that were ex battery hens. They were in a very poor state when I got them with no feathers, wonky beaks and long claws. It shows the resilience of these birds that with th right care and attention they can bounce back. They are so friendly and inquisitive, moreso than my other hens. It makes me feel good to see that these hens that were destined for slaughter now have the chance to live out their lives as natural as possible. I don't have instagram or fb it would be nice to see a few recent pictures of her.:)
