Found a white slimy thread hanging off the corner of my chick's eye

I was just doing my usual rounds making sure all chickens had food and water and I decided to check on the chicks and I noticed my one little black chick had a white thin strand hanging off the corner of their eye as if it was connected to it I didn't want to take it off because I was worried I might pull the poor thing eye out and I didn't know what it is.

If anybody could tell me what it is and how to treat it I'd be very grateful.

Welcome to BYC. What is your general location? That can help with suggestions sometimes. It has the appearance of a roundworm. Can you use some wet paper towel or tissue, and try to wipe it away? The take a clear picture.
