Hello all!
I just hatched four coturnix quail and I am wondering what breeds they are. When I got the eggs I was told that there were three different kinds of coturnix quail eggs in the box. The man said that there was standard coturnix, tuxedo, and one other that I don't remember. I hatched four out of the twelve. Two of the chicks look very similar, and two are different which makes me think that I got one of each kind, well, two of one kind and one each of the others.

Sorry if pictures are blurry, I can get more pictures if wanted. The little quail just wont stay still!!

What cuties!!!

They're all the same 'breed,' just different colors :) Some people use the word breed but I think it gets confusing. They are all purebred japanese coturnix and the only physical difference is the color genetics.

Chicks 1 and 2 are red range or Tibetan types for sure, #3 I honestly have no idea on, and #4 looks like a chocolate(?) tuxedo. Might be red range but hard to tell. He's so cute! I demand more pics when older! :D

Yes! I will definitely post pictures when they are older! Thanks for your input on the colors.

#3 kind of looks like my roux dilute chicks. Some people call those 'egyptian' (different than 'pharoah' which means wild type).

A coloration of coturnix quail that looks like a wild coturnix.
They're not any different from each other than a black cat is from a gray cat.

Here are new pictures, they have all of their feathers now!:

Sorry the pictures are blurry and they don't look so good in some of them. They just wont. stay. still!
I can (try) to take pictures of specific parts or from specific views if wanted.
Do you have any guesses from these blurry pictures, about which ones might be males or females?

One of them just started to crow (I think). It sounds hilarious.
