Fowl pox or?

I do use those galvanized steel waterers and i noticed the other day there seems to be some corrosion on them. I'm going to replace them ASAP just in case.

Maybe she has mites? I checked her over really well and I don't see mites, but i have seen her scratching quite a bit. It seems like maybe those black bits on her comb could be from a mite infection.

I pmd Kathy to see if she has any ideas just waiting to hear back

Has she been eating and drinking like normal?

No she's not eating much. She is drinking a little but not great. She's moving around more today but she's clearly not feeling well. I'm going to wait until its dark and they're in the coop and check again for mites.

To try and encourage eating try soft foods like cottage cheese yogurt fermented chicken food scrambled or hard boiled eggs etc
Still waiting to hear back
:hugs

She ate some scrambled eggs earlier and a bit of homemade milk kefir. I also changed all their water out to glass mason jars with some Rooster Booster vitamins. I checked both birds very thoroughly and I don't see any signs of mites or lice. I read in another thread that said the dark marks on her comb could just be some discoloration from the sun. Maybe they're a bit heat exhausted, it's been so hot here for months just going to try and boost their immune systems as much as I can. I'll consult a vet on Tuesday if she's not better.

My 2.5 year old black australorp hasn't been eating for the last day or so and has been very lethargic. She's sitting around mostly. She's drinking a little bit, but wont eat any food. At first i suspected she had fowl pox because it kind of looks like she does (see pic), but she also has drippings smeared on her back feathers and seems like she may have 'water belly.' She hasn't laid in about 3 months, which is kind of normal for her she's never been a good layer and goes broody fairly often, but she's not broody and isn't molting. Her droppings appear to be normal no worms or blood.

I do live in AZ and we're at the end of a hot summer, but they always have fresh water, a mister, shade, and i feed good quality fermented food.

I can't get her into a vet until next week because of the holiday, is there anything else I can do to help her at this point? I have some rooster booster vitamins coming today to add to their water. I've been syringing her a little homemade milk kiefer. I just hate to see her so miserable she's usually a very happy girl :(
You mention that she seems to have "water belly"?
Is her abdomen swollen and feels like it's fluid filled?
The poop picture looks like egg yolk, how long has it been like that?
Have you ever wormed her?

It's possible she could have worms, though the poop is usually more foamy.

It's looks more like she may have an internal laying/reproductive disorder like Egg Yolk Peritonitis, Ascites, tumors or cancer. With you saying she seems like she has a water belly, then Ascites, may be the culprit. Sometimes the fluid can be drained if it is Ascites, this may give some relief, especially if she is having trouble breathing. Supportive care with antibiotics, may help with infection, but generally improvement is short lived.

Let us know how she is doing.

Yeah, I was afraid it might be ascites since she hasn't laid in months and appears at least that her rear may be swollen since she's got poop stuck to her back feathers, which isn't really normal for her. Her belly does seem bigger and more soft than my other hens, but she is a bigger bird.

She did have some broody type poops the other day, although the poop pic i posted was from yesterday as I didn't catch her pooping today. I've never de-wormed them.

I know the prognosis isn't good if she does have egg yolk peritonitis, and I don't want her to suffer. Thanks for your insight.
