Yes she’s enjoying the extra attention and love. I’m going to go get her some blueberry’s because they are her favorite. My husband is try to get her to drink the electrolyte water but she’s being stubborn. But it’s all a good sign. Her wounds look good I’m nervous to disturb the blood clots by cutting her feathersGreat news!! I tell ya they are amazing how they recover when given great care.
Ok thank you!You just want to make sure as the wounds close no feathers are inside if you can do that without cutting then don't cut. You can also pluck but I haven't ever done that.
I gave her another bath I moved all the feathers around. The puncture wound seems healed it’s just a little white on top but no feathers are stuck in it. She let me get a good look at her neck there’s just the 2 wounds(1puncture 1 graze) and they are both healed majority was feathers being ripped out and blood feathers. But she’s doing good everything seems clean. I applied extra neopsporin and they sprays I had and wrapped her neck higher so she can’t get off. Should I let it breathe after her morning bath tomorrow? Also should I put prid on it once it’s completely scabbed overYou just want to make sure as the wounds close no feathers are inside if you can do that without cutting then don't cut. Yes I use it when they get bumble foot I didn’t know if I should use it to draw out an infection if their is one or to prevent one. From all I have heard you want to keep the wounds moist they heal better that way.
As for wrapping as long as your keeping her inside I wouldn't keep wrapping it.
Just keep neosporin or triple antibiotic on it.
Sounds like she is healing great.
Why prid that is a drawing salve?
Ok thank you! I also have silver honey is that good to put on it? I bought it last year when my drakes got into a fight to put on my drakes woundI wouldn't use it just use the neo or Veterycin or both. If the wound has closed and is looking good just keep an eye on it. If you see oozing or it starts to smell then you may have to go to an antibiotic. I have never heard of using Prid on a wound other than bumble foot. I have only used it for that. You could ask in the Emergencies forum though.
