So i've had a look around through all the thred and havn't been able to find any information, so here i go...... we had a baby chick hatch but mum hasnt been a good mum so now im mum. i found it all cold and wet.. i need to keep her warm tonight but the pet shops shut so cant buy light bulb!!!! :O she can't sleep in my bed because i would crush her (i'm a restless sleeper :O).. so i need somewhere warm for her. the only thing i have is the slow cooker which i though i could put on low with a teatowl inside. is this want safe dont want to cook/ start fire. its a sunbeam slow cooker Hp5590... when i have it on low it never really boils... thought it might be okay? THANKS

Do you have a heating pad? Can you borrow one from a friend? You could make a rice sock by stuffing a sock with rice and tying it off. Heat it in the microwave to a warm temp. Altho, you might have to get up a few times to reheat it.

I would use a blow dryer and dry it off, using warm air. Is the mother like, pecking it? If not, maybe you could bring the hen in, put her in a box/cage, and stick the chick under her. Maybe get up in the night sometime, and make rue it is still under mom. Might work until you can get a bulb.
