FREE - 1 dozen BBS Orp eggs - Central Va. - Winners!!

MissPrissy-

thank you so much for doing this. It has really opened my eyes to the fact that alot of people really do have a need for cheaper good quality hatching eggs. Sometimes we (me included) all get focused on selling our eggs for the highest prices and forget the tragedies and such that others go through.

You have inspired me to try and remember to give back and I know you have inspired a good many others

THANK YOU!

Sheila

Sue, are we the luckiest people in the world? I feel like it. I am very sorry to hear about your coop fire. In a wierd twist of fate a fire is what led me to chickens in the first place. A neighbors house burnt down the first year I lived here but her coop survived. Between the time of the fire and re-building I took care of her birds so that she didn't have to get rid of them. When she died a year later her son came over and said that I could have them, coop and all. I moved the coop accross the property line and have been hooked ever since. The last of her six girls passed away last fall and I was in shock.
I haven't always been the best chicken keeper. The year a fox found my coop I nearly gave up. When my broody quit I nearly gave up. I have learned so much on this forum about how to improve the quality of life for my flock and select the best breeds for my climate. I have so much respect for the people who have set management goals and have worked diligently to attain them. I decided over the winter that the only birds I would add to my flock in 2009 would be Dels and Orps. I never dreamed at the time that a chance like this would arise.
So thank you to Miss Prissy for this chance. And thank you to Ozark Hen, Speckled Hen, Manhori, Omran, MJ, Glenda, Shellyb1969, and the many others who have taught me so much and been such wonderful people.

Congratulations Leah and Sue!!! Happy hatching and, of course, you're going to start a thread so we can follow your hatching adventures, right?!!!

I would love them they are some of the most impressive birds of the orpington family

MissPrissy - I am so amazed at your generosity. I did not enter the contest because I did not feel deserving - I just hatched 20 chicks 10 days ago and bought 6 at TSC because I thought my hatch was going to be a bust. I'm so blessed with my chicks that I did not want to take that joy from someone else but most of all

I'm so glad you picked Sueg - when she posted about her coop burning down and losing all her chickens, I sat here and cried - it's so hard to even think about tomorrow when your dreams are shattered today. It is something like this that restores my belief that we humans are here for a purpose and we can genuinely share something special and bond with one another and give hope to a dying soul.

I know Sueg will prosper with your chicks! Good luck on those hippyhopperhatchers - we'll all be watching for pictures

TY everyone but please you gotta stop. My face is beet red.

I often give away eggs and will give away more in the future.

It is my way of saying thank you to BYC and the members for being so kind and good to me.
