Got word today that one of the hens from the first set of quail that I hatched Valentine's weekend laid her first egg today! Just over 6 weeks old.

awesome.......

so how long until you can start with quail eggs again?

oh and we got a buyer for our 30 mutts we hatched.  get delivered and paid today.

potential buyers for some of the chicks from our first hatch.....

I may have to invest in another styro bator.......lol
It gets addictive hatching when you are selling. I like selling the AMs because they sell out quick straight run. People that want my mutts usually ask for pullets. Were you able to sell them all straight run?

yes, but price was pretty cheep (lol) even for here.

made no secret of them being barnyard mutts, and in exchanging facebook comments, showed her the first batch we did, and the possible outcomes. that is how we got a few requests for some of those birds as well.

they are about 2 1/2 months old, and I told them $8 per bird, even the frizzled.

That's not terribly low, not for mixes. Especially being able to sell straight run that old. I have a hard time selling straight run when they aren't fluffy

Birds must be expensive there, because I don't think $8 is cheap! (or cheep)
