French frogs

Finally got all caught up. It's freezing here!! Literally, like single digits. All the water keeps freezing. Even froze on the one heater I have. Going to order a couple more today. Anyone use this one? http://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/Far...XO1Z1ftEmkUEP0gWxt7Lq7LxTp8ZkaCylwxoCgojw_wcB

I sold all my chicks last night!! And the guy gave me a lot extra $! I declined but he insisted. He was so happy with them. It was great!...even though my son cried over selling them. And I have a trio on the way here. I'm kicking myself because I wanted to wait till after the holidays and the kids were back in school to do this deal. But now this weather! I hope they are ok. Should be here today or tomorrow. I'll get pics when they arrive! Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

Very cold here too.

Wouldn't the chicks climb in that waterer?

I use one of these, although I think they make them smaller (and cheaper) than this one, I think mine's 2 gallon

My buddy has a heated waterer and it froze over here in Utah. We had two weeks in the teens. I put a fishtank heater in a five gallon jug with the cup waterers on it. It's been working pretty good, but we have had to defrost the cups a few times.

It's for the guys in the big coop. I have just a regular plastic bowl like that now on top of a ceramic heated plate and the whole thing was a block of ice this morning!!

You just float it in the water, right? I'm going to need more extension cords! :gig

I also got that galvanized one that I posted a while back. Using it for the ducks and it's been working fine so far. Today has been our coldest day though.

You just need to buy a place with an artesian well. Then water flows year round at about 50 degrees. I was worried about my birds getting frost bite, because they just go and stand in the water all day on those cold days when the highs were in the teens. But they all seemed to be ok, without any ill effects.

They are submersible so I just drop them into the jug and walk away. Works pretty well. $15 at Walmart.

Where do I find one of these wonderful wells? :)
