French frogs

Good morning everyone! I'm trying to convince myself I want to go back to work today.

Hmmm, I hope you convince yourself, because I don't think that's one of the enabler categories around here!

I think this group would be more likely to enable you towards staying home, and drinking turkey, until you didn't care about it anymore.

Where's @scflock been? How did the hatch end up? Are the chicks still home with you?
@RavynFallen, so cool to hear that you are getting some of walnuts turkey eggs!! Are these your first turkeys?

Really warm damp washcloth, just a little at a time maybe? Probably still needs lots of rest but I'd start with the face making sure no water gets in the nostrils. And make sure the vent is clear.

Full bath can wait unless movement is impaired by the glue.

Good luck!

Thanks! He did/does need lots of rest! I used wet cotton balls to get the membrane off that had glued the wing down. But I was worried about doing a full bath, since the navel was not fully sealed. Thinking of doing it today. I've never had a chick this glued together. Good call on checking the vent. I didn't think of that. Going to do that now!

Warm soft rag with a wee bit of blue Dawn dish soap in the water, or baby shampoo, just a couple of drops. You need to work in a warm area, 100 degrees, so sit under a heat lamp or in front of a fireplace or wood stove. Start at the head, gently around the eyes, avoid the nostrils, and ever so gently tousle the down from side to side, then follow with a head to tail stroke. Keep that baby in the warmth until dry, you can pop it back in the Incubator if it's still running. After it's up and about, rubbing against others and self-grooming will help.

Thanks for responding. I haven't done it yet because I thought it might be to much for him. He was really out of it yesterday. Can I do it in the bathroom with the hot shower on? Would that be warm enough? I left him in the incubator till late last night because the others were pecking his hard fur. I put him in when they were sleeping and all seems well. He's two days behind the other chicks, so I have to be careful. I'm going to check the navel and make sure it's closed now and do the bath you described above today.

Got 32 quail eggs. 5 had hairline cracks, so I left them out. So 27, just on the turner only for now, until Wednesday, I will turn the heat on then, so they will hatch over the weekend instead of through the week.
