Friendliest Duck Breeds?

:love:love:love
I was looking into getting some ducks. How would these do with my chickens and a kitty pool? The call ducks.
If I raised a wood duck with the chicks would they all get along?

Yep, they should do fine... I would not do a single wood duck though, still make sure they have at least 1 natural buddy...

Thankyou! How do they handle the cold? I am Wisconsin

They do just fine as long as they have draft free and dry to get out of cold and wet...

How should I keep them? Free range? With a pool? I free range all my hens

I free range mine... :D

Just as long as you lock them up at dusk, they do fine... clip wings *if needed*... they imprint to their home, but juvies can get a bit enthusiastic about their first flights, lol...

Sorry, @SilkiesInSuburb my vote is Calls!

So, so pretty... reminds me of when I was a child and I just wanted to squeeze those kitties - of course, I controlled myself, but the urge is similar :)
Do calls lay well? I'd love to add some in with my standard flock... will the larger ducks accept them?

Calls are seasonal layers only, but how well they lay depends on lines and whether they're super tiny SQ or larger PQ... my PQ and BQ ones lay fairly well... my Snowy line lays much less...

I have had them with Rouen mixes and Swedish just fine... but, if you have a standard sized drake, I do not recommend Calls with them, they can seriously injure if not kill the smaller ducks...
