70+ heads of garlic grace my walkway

Ornamentals and food mixed together makes an artistic garden

Garlic scape...I harvested a bunch this morning:

And of course, chickens free ranging in my tomato, pepper and asparagus patch. They chomped down my asparagus, so I had to put them back in their enclosure.

How very nice!
Thank you for sharing.
I love the idea of the garlic lining your walkway!
We planted about 100 onion bulbs cuz we eat a lot of onions, but I never thought to use it "ornamentally" while it's growing.
I planted some garlic, too, but I'm not sure if it's doing anything.

A friend of mine did a formal edible garden in her front yard. Complete with the circular walkway and everything, the centerpiece is a large concrete container with a tomato plant! The effect was a really neat, and you could eat everything in it.

My husband has taken over our gardening, he's become obsessed with it. We've put in 4 different beds so far. I'd like to have a "no-mow" front yard, but we rent so it has to weight.

Really nice use of space. Don't have to worry about theft of garlic, most people won't know what it is! Another friend did her veggies up front because she doesn't get sun in the back. Everything was stolen as soon as it was ready.

I have never had so much as a tomato stolen that I am aware of. I don't worry about theft, and really....if people want to take things...they can do it out of a backyard as well.

My town is a really nice, small town.

What a beautiful garden! I've been having trouble here for YEARS trying to plant gardens! This year everything is potted and now I'm trying to learn exactly how much to water. You've given me inspiration for next year! Thank you!
