Fugly Farm

Hey IM, how are your hatching eggs coming along?
I ordered 6 and only half were even fertile but there are chicks in the 3 left. I'm concerned about the size of the air cell in one, it's a bit large, but so far they're developing. I suppose it would be too much to ask for 3 girls?

Angus must be limping mostly because of the gauze and wrap on his foot. I found him standing on the side of the wagon in full crow telling the whole world he's alive and well this morning. I think I am getting better at wrapping his foot so he can walk pretty well. He still limps and it's hilarious to watch him run. I'm going to cut the gauze pad smaller tonight so it's not a wad in the center of his foot pad and see if that helps.

I'm really happy with the roost at the lower level. Blue is a heavy girl and so is Cuckoo even though she's not that big. It's also much easier for me to pick them up and put them back when it's dark.

Glad to hear Angus is getting his spunk back!

3 girls could happen! Fingers crossed it turns out that way :fl

Well, if you do get a boy, you could always try out the meat.

Holy cow, the flies are bad here and it hasn't even started raining here for the monsoon yet. I just had to throw away my second Rescue Fly Trap that was full of them! I just had to hang up a 3rd one, but this one is a bigger size. I taped the top of the full ones closed, and then put them in the empty plastic coffee container's with lid's that I had sitting around in the house. I don't think that anything will be able to survive in that!

When is your monsoon season? Have you ever had trouble with flooding?

I had the dead chickens wrapped in a feed bag AND a trash bag that I tied shut so double bagged. The flies were terrible around it, now they're swarming the trash can.

I have those bait traps with water in them. Are you using the strips?

It should be starting any day now, but where I'm at doesn't get flooded, only the washes do.

I don't use the strip's out there. I have heard of chicken' flying up and getting the wing's stuck to them. Besides, bigger gust's of wind can get that sticky stuck all over everything.

Today was crazy. Started off hollering at the oldest GS about being noisy in the middle of the night while playing games, hooked up the hose to the mister but never turned it on after the other one exploded yesterday and left puddles and mud all over, then the dogs got into it and my daughter and I both got bit trying to break it up, Igor is being whiney and didn't eat dinner, and my damn finger hurts from the bite so I'm grumpy and not in the mood for any of it. My boss has been late to my training all week and I find that disrespectful. Tomorrow is Friday and I'm ready for it.
