Fugly Farm

Lost Angus to the heat I guess. Woke up Friday, no crowing. Went to let the chickens out, he was on the ground. The white hen we had put down Thursday night; she was always laying right in the mister when I was running it and then had a cough she never got rid of when I quit using it. No more mister and now no more rooster either. I told hubs I'm ready to give up, the bunnies can use the coops during the cool part of the year. He thinks a window a/c can be installed but I'm seriously thinking about selling my birds and just being done.

So sorry to hear about Angus IM. That heat is just terrible and you've worked so hard to combat it. :hugs

Thanks lady. Maybe bantams will be more tolerant since they're smaller, we'll see. I'm still going to try the bantam Turkens with the Egyptian Fayoumis in Spring. Then if the a/c doesn't help without breaking the bank I'll give up.

I lost the FNN girl from the heat a few of day's ago too. All the other's are still ok though, including the chick that I hatched from her back in June. I'm still watching the animal's next door too, until the end of this month on the 29th. My DH goes in for his back operation on Sept. 1st. I bought a group of 7 four week old Silver Grey Dorking's a couple of day's ago.

You have your hands full! Are you sure your neighbors are coming home (maybe you're just really adopting a bunch more critters)?
