Oh my goodness Debby...I think you know me to well...I was just thinking that I might like to have some...:gig I think these are possibly my youngest sons favorite breed!

When I first saw them, I thought they were too odd looking. But seeing the chicks and learning more about them in general, I think it would be a nice breed to have too.

Yep, you're a goner now

I will have to sneak one in...because I know Dale doesn't care for their looks...but I'm loving the sound of their personalities more and more! I'm going to need a bigger coop...:gig

Maybe if you had a couple of NN chicks, he'd grow attached.

As for the bigger coop...that might cause your DH more heartburn than a couple of "funny" looking chicks!

I might be ordering some new chicks next spring, so I could add one or 2 and he wouldn't know until it was too late... :D

Yeah, I won't mention that too him...I'll let him draw his own conclusions...:gig

Hi, nice to see you here in the thread. Yes, they are a nice breed, but fair warning, I have had to deal with 5 broodies this summer, and 3 of them were the Naked Neck's. The other 2 broodies were the Blue Laced Barnevelder's.

Hi, thank you for the welcome and warning! When I ordered chicks for my flock this spring, I was looking for good personalities and egg laying...I didn't stop to think about broodiness...I probably chose too many with that trait...lol, at least they haven't demonstrated it so far, but it's still early and they've only been laying for the last few weeks, so I'm sure it will soon happen! :)

Big uhoh here. Lol. I ordered two nn pullets and 7 at silkies. I already have an older langshan that goes broody every six weeks, 2 cuckoo marans that go broody 2 to 3 times a year, a 3 yr old orpington that's only been broody once and several of those girls' daughters that are starting to show interest in chicks. I think my last batch of 6 (4 wk old) chicks is 4 cockrell & 2 pullets. I'm going to have to have a new coop and pen for the boys...can't wait to explain that to my spouse. 😁

I also have a breeding group of pure Silver Grey Dorking chick's that I bought that are now 6 week's old. They are a broody breed too, so I'm really going to have fun next year. :gig I plan to hatch some of those out as pure, and also mix them with my Naked Neck's too for 5 toed Naked Neck's. I have one already here that is a mix, and I like it.

Sounds like you definitely stand a good chance at some broody girls...lol
