Today was very productive. I cut down a Vitex because it’s too close to the apricot and transplanted the new one I got during the week, then caged it so the chickens can dig in the bed or eat it before it can grow. Trimmed the lantana, I thought it was dead, then caged it. Cut down the sugarcane and composted it, trimmed the potato bush, cut down one of the bells of fire in front of the shade garden and cleaned up the patio. Got all the debris from trimming rosemary and lavender composted, and moved the new feeder and an extra waterer to the coop yard. The apricot and plum trees are blooming. This week I’ll get the grass frame set up and a bee waterer done. There was a lone bee visiting the apricot tree this morning. I had to cover the wicks for the self waterers in the shade garden with a pit resting on a rock so the chickens don’t pull them out. I need a new shovel to dig out the two plants I cut down, the teenager broke mine.

Thanks Janie. These came quick, I ordered from Etsy.
I can't see how those you've bought are fastened. It might not be a problem for you but some I've seen look like they would easily catch in a bush or on a twig etc and trap the hen.
I've seen anti hawk saddles made from leather with plastic inserts like armour.
I'm told they work but not a practical option for most back yard keepers I think.

They have elastic that goes round the wings. I work at home so there’s not high risk she would be caught for long, I’m outside frequently during the day. Good to know though, I’ll be sure to keep an eye on that.
