That's a pretty cool nest box idea! Where are you going to put your second coop?

Somewhere over near the other one, so that I won't have so far to go to do the feed and water, and to collect the egg's. I bet I can get my next door neighbor to help me with it, as she like's to tinker and stay busy, and beside's she want's more of the NN pullet's from me that have the bowties when they are at big enough to go with her other's girls over there that she got from me. She said that she want's to name the next pullet she get's from me Matilda. I told her if she start's waltzing with Matilda, she will be a certifiable crazy chicken lady! :lau

The wind was blowing last night and I stood in the mini coop to see how breezy it was. Too much for my liking so everyone stayed in the big coop. This afternoon I'll be adding some plastic to the side vents and redoing one panel of the front.

@igorsMistress Here's a picture of that old double sink re-purposed into nest boxes for the 2 mean girl's that were picking on the naked neck's. She sent it along with 3 other picture's of that new coop so that I could post to show you that idea for the nesting boxes. Those 2 hen's are laying egg's in it too!

Thanks for the pic. That's such a great idea and I love the recycling of old materials!

That's cool!

I've been trying to find a photo but can't right now...there was a contest here on BYC where someone had re-purposed an old (non-working) toilet for a nesting box. There's another idea you don't see every day  Another nesting box I saw long ago was an old clothes dryer with the door removed.

I might be in for the dryer idea, but I don't know about the toilet...

I remember year's ago when people would re-purpose old toilet's as flower pot's and put plant's in them.

Doggie update: we were at the park over the weekend. A guy showed up with an English bulldog/Pit mix. She has the cutest face and was really sweet! Another person showed up with what looked like a golden mix, also female. The golden had another dog by the throat within a few seconds of entering the park. The owner didn't leave despite that.

Fast forward half an hour. We had been talking with the owners of the bully and our dogs were playing, separately chasing balls with no issues as the humans chatted. Out of nowhere that golden mix attacked the little English bulldog. Frank defended her and had that golden by the side of the face in 2 seconds. The golden let go of the bulldog and, fortunately, Frank eventually let go of the golden. Afterward he was licking the bulldog on the face where she had a little owie.
Frank the Enforcer has earned his title.
