Frank went shopping

My girls are fine, just grumpy about the wind. Poor old ladies, just like me, they prefer perfect weather.
I think we all prefer perfect weather, we certainly spend plenty of time complaining when it isn’t :gig

I wish Frank would take care of my shopping, bet he'd be good at it!
He spends more time getting love and treats from all the people. If he did your shopping you’d get nothing but a smile and tail wag from him. He’s such a love bug.

I spent half the night looking at outdoor rabbit colony set ups. I found several great ideas and talked with Igor about a few of them. The side yard and both coops are going to the buns, the ducks are going to my sons place.

I love the ducks, and they’ve been a lot of fun. Right now we, meaning me and the man, need a bit more freedom to get away and the live-in fam is unreliable. I can give the buns water and hay and they’ll be fine for a few days, but the ducks require attention. I spend any time away worrying, and knowing, that if I don’t stay on top of the fam the animals will be ignored. The buns are far less messy, and their poop is really good for the garden. The ducks don’t really help in that regard and they make more work. I’ll have fowl again at some point, just not right now.

I found a bunny blog that has a great idea for a cooling pad using cement blocks and ceramic tiles. I found two 18” square tiles and I’m pretty sure I have enough blocks to make two spots, one for each bun. I purchased a few other things for their space and work will begin today.

I’m keeping the indoor pen, but it will be back to just the wood and HWC portion as I need space for plants. The buns will come in when temps reach 100 or they begin to show signs of heat stress and cooling measures don’t work.

I’ll post pics as we go.

It's hard to get away when you have poultry (based on my experience anyway). It's nice your son has a place for the ducks. And you can visit when you want!
