Fugly Farm

I got outside after work and transplanted a couple of borage starts and one of the comfrey plants. I’ll get a couple more of the comfrey in tomorrow.
it’s super windy this afternoon. It’s comfortable in the shade but toasty in the sun so I’m done for today.

Is the comfrey just for looks or are you also going to use it for an herbal medicine? The flowers on it are pretty when they bloom!
All of the above. It’s good for the chickens and bunnies and also good as a chop and drop item in the garden. A good companion for quite a few things.

Chicks today. The third pic is a good one of Icarus

Thanks Debby. They actually look like chickens now. I was reading that SS tend to be broody, could be a good thing

I've only had 3 SS in a previous flock. None of them were broody girls, but 3 is a pretty small sample  Loved them, nice personalities and so pretty!

Well I only have 2 so we’ll see.

One of Jasper’s daughters is broody at my sons house

Garden snaps today. I moved the chaste trees out to the big yard. They get more sun here which seems to agree with them. They’re growing like little weeds

This is the comfrey I moved from a pot to the ground the other day. It seems to be doing fine. I’m going to transplant one out near the olive tree. I don’t have hopes that it’ll live, but we’ll see how it goes

This is a cucumber plant I got from the worm farm. It’s still small and has already had a flower on it so I don’t have high hopes for much of a yield. Our temps are the mid 90s quite a bit already

One of the borage transplants. It’s not looking great. I must have dropped a couple of seeds near the tomatoes because there are two new borage sprouts in that area. I’m going to leave them for now and see how things go

Oregano is a happy little bush now

I was going to pull out the rosemary and lavender in the shade garden, but have decided to leave the lavender. The bees like it and I love the smell. The rosemary I’ll dry and use in nest boxes or the kitchen, but I have another bush so fresh will always be available and that’s how I like to use it. I got shipping confirmation for the apple tree today so will prep for that this weekend. I’m going to put it in the shade garden for the summer and transplant in fall. Still waiting for the banana tree to ship and that will be the last of the orders for this year. No Easter for us, but I have a date with hubs to go see Alan Parsons tomorrow night at the Celebrity Theater, super excited for that!
