Phoenix is sounding like a real rooster these days. And he sounds just like Elvis, like enough you can’t really tell them apart by voice. He’s still all black with the red patches on his wings. Henna hangs out with him a lot more than she did right after she quit babying him.
Connor is trying to be broody, and Attila is still trying too

I’m annoyed with it.
The chicks are really growing fast. Each is a different shade of blue so it’s easy to tell them apart. Sky is really giving me a hard time with gender identification. Some days I think pullet and other days I’m on the fence.
We are still under heat warnings with triple digits in the forecast at least through next week. I’m annoyed with that also. The crew gets ice blocks in the wading pools every afternoon even though it’s slightly under 110. They are using them so I’m going to keep it up until they don’t.
I gave the litter in the coop a healthy dose of water and opened up the side door to let it air out. I’ll probably throw some scratch in there tomorrow morning so the crew can stir it up. I’m debating about moving the chicks into the coop this weekend. They are plenty old enough and I’m over having them in the shade garden. Although it’s quite convenient for feeding them, I want to get that cleaned out so I can get the Greenstalk set up. Although there’s probably no rush, it’s still too hot to plant anything for winter. I want to move out of this area like right now.
Made some waxed cotton squares with some fabric and beeswax I had laying around. They aren’t sticky like what you get from Amazon, but I know how to wrap stuff without that. Plus it was a free project, I didn’t have to buy anything. I’m thinking about making myself a small tarp for camping from a really thick top sheet leftover from a set. Might come in handy to keep stuff dry if it rains.
