Okay well what we're gonna do is build them a custom house out of scraps from the chicken coop, so I may just make their nesting box large and see what happens. If she lays in it, great. If not, I tried. They were sad that I didnt come home (to feed them) right after school so when we got home from the doc about an hour ago they waddled up in the yard looking for their daily dose of bread and chick feed lol

Only bad part about that is that we didnt realize they were there until after we let the dog out (

). He chased them back to the pond, didnt hurt em but scared em pretty good. Hes a 2 year old Border Collie mix and he just wants to herd sometimes, especially when I least want him to

. Im just hoping I can get him trained a little better by the time we are ready to let our chickies out to free range.

I hope so too.

His webbing is torn (healed) but it doesnt look natural. Think this was an old injury and it just healed all wrinkly like this? Sorry I cant get a better pic. He doesnt stand still much, shifts his weight a lot. You cant tell but the other webbing on the same foot is paler like its worn thinner. On a happier note... the female hopped into my lap

Despite the camera ready in my hand, I wasnt quite prepared for that so I didnt get a pic

They are beautiful!! and sound so sweet too.and as for his feet it probably is an old injury. and that pond could have snapping turtles in it which is not good for ducks they have been known to take off a foot and also eat ducklings. Hope you can get them out of there soon. Also Luke posted he has a silkie roo hes looking for a home for on the NC thread, don't know if he is SQ though you might want to check it out though.

We are going to work on their fence next weekend along with finishing the chicken coop so for a while they may just stay in the big coop til we get their house finished. They are very sweet, they follow me all over the neighbors yard. They do have the "eye" down for when I dont bring them food lol. As for the Silkies, I sent a PM to BatCave Silkies and she said she would be bringing some of her juveniles to CHickenstock. I cant wait to meet all of you. I think its gonna be fun

*edited to add... Do you know of a good list of duck safe treats? Id like a list so I can feed them more than just bread and chick feed. If there is a list on here, I cant seem to find it... Thanks

My mom was gone all weekend so I was working alone. Hopefully this week we will get help from some men at our church who do discount work for widows. We have about two more weeks before the babies can go out so we really need to get moving.
