Funny story (:

I saw large dog tracks down by the pond today. They appeared between 4 and 7 today so I doubt it was a coyote.. Hopefully we'll get the fence finished this weekend and they will be able to come in.
Every time I go down there with the cup to feed them, Lucky attacks the cup lol and tries to bite my shoestrings. We do have new neighbors (the lot has been vacant for a few months). Im hoping they dont keep me from feeding the babies until we get the fence done. We'll see. They seem friendly thus far.

I hope they will stay on the water they will be safer there. Coyotes do hunt together too you know but dogs are just as bad. Hope you can get them a safe place soon, they have really bonded with you.

None of our neighbors are the most responsible people it seems. We have a pack of half-wild Rotties and GSDs that roam the woods of our formerly quiet neighborhood. The ASPCA tried to catch a few but they ended up getting bitten and chased with a gun (the man who technically owns them is a bit... odd). We are working on the fencing as fast as my mothers doc will let her lol so its just a process. We're getting there.

Lucky made me quite jealous/proud today.. A friend of my moms came over to help with the coop and brought his kids. They naturally wanted to go see the ducks but I was a little worried because Lucky had been kinda picky about who got close to him lately. He let the kids pet him! I havent even been able to do that. I can pick him up and pet him but he wont voluntarily come close enough to me (and stand still) to let me pet him. He was sooo sweet. I think he knew they just wanted to pet him (and it helped that they brought treats lol)

Boy thats a scary thought, Yancey county use to have half wild dogs running in pacts too, but thank goodness they got rid of them before we moved here. Still people do let their dogs run loose not thinking they are wrecking havock at someone property or they don't care. I'm glad you have help getting things ready for your chickens and ducks. You know animals have a 6th sense about children and can be so sweet towards them if not treated cruely, Thats is so sweet that Lucky let them pet him. I always say the way to a ducks heart is through his tummy. It's worked here.

Im sure lol it always works for Willow and Lucky. We're getting the coop pretty much finished by tomorrow. We just need to paint over the floor (some chemicals spillled and according to TSC, thats gonna be the best way to cover it up) and put in a vent fan. Id go ahead and bring them over, but we dont have the fence finished and I doubt they would be happy staying inside for a few days.

Sounds like it's all coming together!

Ducks didnt get fed yesterday, they were quite miffed. Im not allowed to feed them while the new neighbors are around and my mom isnt. Makes sense but the ducks dont see it that way. They see it as cruel and unusual. Even Willow was kinda aloof towards me today. Ah well.. This weekend the fence post holes will be dug and hopefully we will make good progress.

Dont tell my mom but Im planning to make their section a little large just in case lol. Do you think that since they are so bonded to each other, they would accept another female duck? Just curious..

Well most likely they would, the girls will have to work out who will be # 2, since Lucky is #1. but they will and then they will be happy. I wouldn't put a duckling in with them though.
