(Sorry for taking so long, everyone!
Even in his age, Earl always paid attention to his surroundings.Pud wandered the forest.
"Please don't kill me. I didn't know this was your territory." Pud said. "I'm too young to die."Even in his age, Earl always paid attention to his surroundings.
Ravens could reach 40 years of age, but usually got eaten or killed by then. Only becoming the pet of a human would give you the chance to live a life like that. But not worth it's time, Earl thought wryly. That life is duller than a rock with brain damage.
He spotted Pud and flew into the air.
He landed heavily on the pigeon.
"I heard that pigeons walk, but never met one that used it as his preferred mode of transportation."
He studied the pigeon, seeing that his coloring was mottled, not the grey or whatever color he was supposed to be, and small. But still with the round body of a squab with the awkward angles. Or would be round. It seemed like he hadn't met a meal in a while. Must be this forest traveling. Pigeons expected humans to drop food just anywhere.
"Mighty young to be traveling in the forest," he mused. "I almost hate to kill you but you are entering our territory. You pigeons have taken too much already. Any last words?" He rasped. The pigeon squeaked. Feeling sorry for the winged rat, Earl released his grip a bit.
"Please," Earl rasped. "They all say that. What reason do I have to spare you?""Please don't kill me. I didn't know this was your territory." Pud said. "I'm too young to die."
"If you let me live i'll help you. I really don't want to go back to the pigeons or die." Pud said."Please," Earl rasped. "They all say that. What reason do I have to spare you?"
A young raven previously consumed in the consumption of carrion curiously watched.
"I didn't know 'Old Earl' still knew how to fly straight..." he whispered in awe.
Earl growled.
"An unloyal pigeon or someone who will betray me in the end. Hmmm," Earl contemplated. "How can you help me, exactly?""If you let me live i'll help you. I really don't want to go back to the pigeons or die." Pud said.
