A couple months ago I was pulling them out of the nest box and placing them on the roost, but waiting until after it got dark. Not as much scolding that way.I'm getting 3-5 daily. I supply eggs to 2 other families, GS and MIL. I've been able to share a few. Definitely doesn't always happen like that so I feel blessed. I hope my Cream Legbars kick in soon.
I think one of my 8 month old Marans pullet is going broody.
She was doing the cluck, cluck, cluck and raised her hackles at the other hens yesterday. Last night she was in the nest box at closing time. Moved her to the roost. She ruffled all up and made a fuss.I think she said an ugly word. I said, "No, no, let's not do this in January." I always hate to discourage a broody.
