A Coop Story
1st coop
Long long ago, built one small coop for a "few" chickens in what had been a dog pen. Things went well. Small coop was hard to clean. We wanted "more chickens".

2nd Coop
9 months later in the middle of winter, built a walk in coop.

Yay! Love it. Easy to clean. Ready for new spring chicks!
Year 2-First Broody and Built A Broody Box
Let my BO sit in nest box. Big mistake! Other hens tried to continually add eggs to clutch. Marked hens eggs. Removed new ones daily. Ended up with broken eggs. Messy! She hatched 4 chicks! Yay!
3 are roosters.

Build a broody box under poop board with separate outside run.
Works well!
Year 4- Two Broodies at one time. Then a third a week later! Yikes!
Quickly built a 3x4 coop and added run.
At some point, I also crawled in the attic of the barn and got down a large dog wire dog kennel I had. The story get's all fuzzy in my head at this point!

Almost 11 years after building that first little coop, we are now trying to find the time to build a second walk in coop and add to the run again. Then we can separate when we want to breed certain chickens.
One thing I've figured out, if you build the coop they will come.
I have to say, I've certainly enjoyed to the ride!
