Gusts up to 65mph are forecast. I'm not worried about the hoop coop blowing away. I did anchor it down at the four corners, but will be watching to see how the tarps and shade cloth handle the wind.

In 17 years living here the trees that came down always fell to the south, which is one reason I placed the coop where it is.

No sense in panicking.

Today I left work early to avoid driving home during heavy rain.

My flock was treated with bits of grapes, cheddar cheese crumbles, plus half an ancient biscuit, cut into tiny cubes. They ate it all!

I noticed that the level in the main waterer was low, so I dragged the hose over to and inside the coop. As it was still clean inside the bucket I just filled it up. And I sprayed off the lid.

The chick(en)s did not like the look of the long green snake that had intruded into their domain...

They hid behind the chair.

So far there are just some small branches down in the yard, and the fence panel has blown over. It's not attached to the coop, so I left it on the ground until after the storm.

Thanks for the concern.

The severe band of storms just brushed by us, didn't even hear any thunder though we got rain and wind.

I checked after work, everything is good. The yard is a bit muddy, the litter in the chicken run is wet but drained; my feet didn't sink down at all.

I trapped the calico, the one I call Alice!

Tomorrow I am going to drop her off at the spay clinic on the way to work. I put the trap in the shed for the evening, it will keep her out of the wind and cold overnight.

We've had a lot of strays/ferals coming through since my outside cats passed on. I have started feeding them on a regular basis so I can TNR (Trap/Neuter/Release). Once they can't reproduce I will feed them enough to keep them around. Then the TNR cats keep the other strays away.
