fuzzi's Chicken Journal

Our run door was perfect when it went in. Within days it had started to twist, varying with the humidity.

We have three latches on it. It can be quite the adventure to get them to all latch! But maybe they help fight the twisting. :idunno

What a clean door!

Once I can close the door I'll add three latches, like my first coop door:

I
FIXED
IT!

I got home from work, was feeling tired and not motivated to do anything, especially not with the  hoop coop door.

After putting on my yard clothes I went out to visit with my biddies. They put me in such a good mood that I decided to try using the jigsaw to shave off the edge of the door. I think it was a bad angle, I had little control and all it did was take off little bits of wood.

Then I thought about this...

Several years ago while my dad was visiting he bought a plane for me, to help trim a bedroom door that was sticking.

I located the plane and started shaving ribbons of wood off the door's edge...

:yesss:

It's tight, but not forced.

Glad you thought about the plane.
Looks great 👍

No coop work today, just puttering.

Connected a second shorter hose to the rainbarrel overflow hose. Now that it's long enough to reach the blueberry bushes and two of the raised beds I can attach a soaker hose!

I raked up debris from the garden clean up. They were in small piles around the yard.

As I raked I found a lovely pile of soft and dark humus underneath an old tarp.

I put it in one of my raised beds.

See the difference?

Look at the iris bloom! It's the first since I moved them last year.

Pretty iris! :clap

Now I have to check mine. I have them in several places. Some tend to bloom early and some later.

It seems the deer don't like the iris. I saw a doe bite down on my iris foliage one time and immediately backed off. They ate all my hosta, oriental lilies and started on the daylilies. I have moved almost all my daylilies close to the back deck. So far so good.:fl

So nice to see blooms again!
