Martha refusing to stand after I removed her from the nesting box!

Martha is growling and screeching when you move her from the nest right?

She makes unhappy noises, and yes, a screech. She has NOT attempted to peck me.

Most of mine when broody will raise up their feathers like a porcupine when I approach them. They growl and screech. Some will peck at me. Some do not. I had one that would bite and sometimes draw blood. Had to be careful with her. She was such a good mama. Would hatch any fertile egg I gave her.
She passed away last year at 8 yrs old.

Last night I disturbed one of the Dominiques in the nesting box, after 5pm?! I reached under her, found two eggs. At that point she exited the box making fussy noises.

A tropical storm warning is in effect today and tomorrow. Trying to get ahead of the weather my dh mowed yesterday, and I put some of the clippings in the coop last night:

They're vocal, but mainly just chirpy noises. The only time I've heard the typical "Bock Bock Bock" is when they're alarmed at something, like a snake or dog. Then they get REALLY noisy!
