Well, it happened again.

Went to AgriSupply this morning to buy a couple bales of straw. On impulse I decided to get a couple more cattle panels, for a rooster "bachelor pad" or garden supports. Guess what? Two male employees didn't want to follow my directions on how to load the cattle panels. I literally had to grab the middle and place it on the truck bed. I swear, I'm not being a 🐩, they got sullen when I tried to explain how we'd loaded them before.

That's just nuts.

I rearranged the hoop coop again this morning!
:pop

I put the two bales of straw on top of the brooder. Then I created a play yard for the Dominique chicks.

Big chicks were very interested!

Once the big chicks wandered away the little chicks came out to eat some mush:

No, she's not dead, just sunbathing!

I redid the roost by the door, placing a fence section between the hardware cloth wall and the roost:

I added a cement block to stabilize the boards.

Now when the big chicks roost on the boards at night they won't be too close to the wall and predators outside!

And then I moved the short roost next to the tall one:

Pullet approved!

Hmm, that is crazy.
I like to shop there for certain things, too.
I have had similar problems at Lowes.
Some folks don't need to work with customers.
Doesn't hurt for them to be nice.
My take? Some men can't take direction from a woman.

I've not had a similar situation at Lowe's, so they get kudos for their staff.

We are seeing the haze and can smell it too. Hope they get it out soon. Got to be really bad further east. I think the winds will change by tomorrow.
Winds changed earlier, we're about to be hit by strong storms. I went out to the coop and refreshed the Dominiques' food and water, put the cardboard "bumper" back, and latched the brooder door. Sussex got some chickweed and I checked the waterers, too.

Hatches have been battened down!
