Fuzzy-Butt Update PIC HEAVY

Right now we have the mother, eggs and chick in an enclosed nesting box that has a door with chicken wire on it. The mother has food and water and enough room to be very comfortable. None of the others can get to her and bother her.

ADORABLE!!!

you need to keep the hen and babies together. A friend in MI has biddies that hatched in January and they are in the barn and the mother hen is tending to them. The mother hen does a great job, better than we can do.

Thank you Sahara, we plan to keep the babis with her as long as she is providing warmth. So far so good! She has been really attentive, cooing and calling the chick when it sneaks out from under her. We spent most of the day cleaning and fixing nesting boxs in the other coop so we got a chance to watch them quite a bit. These are our first chicks and we want everything to go well!

I just put my hen and babies back in the coop with the group and everyone took to them nicely, even the rooster! By the time I locked up for the night, he was drinking out of their marble-filled water dish with them! I was very excited to see that the rest of the group accepted them in to the flock!

The best part was seeing Momma teaching them how to drink and eat feed!
