Why did you take the peeps from their mother???
I'm sorry but that makes me sooo sad, when people post pictures, or talk about mother hens, and how good they are with the little chickies, and then they take them away.... I think it is awful.
It makes me feel like crying

the sweetest thing is a mother hen with her little chicks.

Well we didn't want to but even though our chickens enjoy a heated coop, during the day when we open the chicken doors for them to go out the temperature drops very quickly and we didn't want them to get sick. It's been pretty cold here in central Indiana and very windy as well. She is already setting on her second clutch this year and the babies should hatch around March 10th which should be a little warmer so we might let them stay out there providing that it is.

Your chicks are beautiful. Good luck with them

I would like to suggest though that it seems that you have cedar shavings in some of the pictures and cedar is very bad for animals resp. system. I would suggest a pine shaving to help avoid any problems.

We are switching back to pine. I wasn't aware of cedar being potentially harmful until just recently. We have used it for a long time and have had no bad effects from it but......
