game camera?

For those that use these, are they wireless so you can see the picture without removing the camera or media? Are they weatherproof? What brand do you have? I would love one for our pen if only to keep an eye on what the chickens are doing during the day. But our pen is not close to the house so it would have to be some kind of wireless.

I currently own 2 game cameras, both are Primos TruthCam 35. They provide good quality day and night (IR) pictures, including the SD card each camera cost me about $120.

Wireless cameras are available but cost several hundred dollars.

Weatherproof: Yes, I have had these up through the rain, and have had others up during the winter snow/ice with no issues.

I use mine for scouting and monitoring my hunting sites, I have pictures of deer, boar, fox, crows, weasels, and song birds. Here is a picture of a bird that was flying up to land on top of my camera. The salt lick in the background is about 10-12 yards away and the tree behind that is around 15 yards away. I get good night time pictures of hogs working around the area out to ~45'.

Yes they work very well for night and day pictures. The SD card is what you remove now and again to look at your pics and they are most all of the time weather proof.

Yes they are weather proof--I left my Moultrie out all winter in the rain, sleet and snow with no problem. I currently have 4 out in various places--the Moultrie, 2 cheapo Wildviews and a Bushell. I use 2 GB SD card in all, just leave the cameras up and visit them every few days and I swap out the card with an erased one. Then I open the card, erase all the pictures I don't want and download the rest to a Scan Disc. Works for me.

Thanks everyone. I'm hoping for one that I can watch in real time. I suppose that'll be super expensive. I know I see them on horse barns, owl nests, etc. What kind are those?

I bought a Stealth Cam with 8mp and it can hold a 12gb card.
Can't say enough good things about it. Now I now who isn't paying for eggs at my stand

I started using a game camera last year. I went with a WGI X6CG. It'll do pictures and video, 6mp, and its compact. It was out in the woods for months in rain and cub freezing temps. It was in a lockbox though which helped keep it out of the weather a little more. The wireless kinds are expensive and require the ones I've seen require you pay a monthly fee for the wireless access.
