Gardening for Old Folks (Adaptative)

I don't make chips. I just break the sticks to about six inches long and the heave branches like a foot long.
but that is for direct burning in the grill, not the gas one. I have both kinds.
I like the wood burner best.
I fertilized grapes and rhubarb yesterday. today I want to spread some mulch/compost .
One of the grapes I planted last year reached the top wire. I cut the tip off. Now it is sending shoots along the top wire in both directions. also sending a shoot along the lower wire.
I have one rhubarb that has a whole nest of babies. It must have had a flower stalk that I missed last year. IDK if I am supposed to thin them out ?

No work outside today. I am putting my chef's hat on. going to make a batch of cowboy beans and some mashed potato rolls.
tomorrow we are going to a picnic with a group of old friends. pot luck.
I think this is our twelfth annual.
we had a short sprinkle of rain at three PM yesterday. it didn't amount to very much.
yesterday there was a black bear roaming the neighborhood in Wausau close to our daughter.

Have hugelkulture beds or raised keyhole beds been a topic of discussion here? With a properly built hugelkulture bed there isn't as much bending over and they are a bit drought tolerant so less watering, same with a raised keyhole bed
I have heard of raised beds.
Never heard the terms you are using.
Is it something that one could build or are they purchased ?

OK, I looked it up. I have heard of it before, didn't know what it was called.
I am thinking of something on that line for planting my corn.
I want to make hills with my disc potato hiller. then plant the corn on top of the hills. then later on i can lightly hill the corn and won't need to cultivate . this could easily turn into a disaster, lolol

I put five U posts in the old grape arbor area. as it turned out they lined up in a straight row . I didn't expect that.
Why not, I presume you ran a line from one end to the other to place the posts.

and besides, I don't like the flavor anyhow.
What? You don't like the taste of starter fluid? I am so surprised ;)

Nope, no line. These grapes were growing sprawling along the ground. Annie located the new sprouts and I put a post next to them. them being in a straight line was just a fluke. They are too close together to string a wire trellis. So the individual post method will work the best.
no I don't like the taste or the smell of charcoal starter. lolol
Once when we were camping during deer hunting, somebody splashed just a drop of lantern gas onto a pound of butter. It instantly permeated the whole block of butter. Nobody could eat it.
