Gardening for Old Folks (Adaptative)

On a real note,,,, tonight we are expecting frost, while nearby northern and western areas are expecting a FREEZE. Lake Michigan is affecting the milder temps in Chicago proper.
Took in all my important plants (perennials/flowers) into garage. Will still place back outdoors, ,,,,,, since milder temps are expected to still return.
Most of the leaves are still green around me. :old

My daughter had a "parts" car parked here for a couple
of years. when I got sick of it, I had the junkyard come
get it. the squirrels has stored about a bushel of black
walnuts under the hood and all around the radiator.
some electrical wires are coated with a soy based
compound. rodents really love that. I had a plastic gas
cap on my lawn mower destroyed by something chewing
on it.
we went to a very rural tavern for a fish fry last night.
they are open only on Fridays from 2 to midnight.
we had not gone there for over thirty years. we had
blue gill. blue gill is my favorite fish to eat. perch is a
close second.
this is the first time I ever had it in a restaurant. it was great.
I figure a fish fry is a good deal. once you figure your license,
travel to a lake, bait, tackle , and a boat if you use one,
and then no guarantee of a meal. I have never been
skunked at a restaurant. :old
I finally got the gasket put on the stove door in the shop.
today I will install the door. this is a different stove
that my nephew gave to me. I hope it works well.
I started cutting out the parts for a portable chainsaw
vise. it is my own design. there was nothing on
youtube that I could steal ideas from.

where we turned that squirrel loose was miles away
from any house.
Regardless, as @R2elk said, it is illegal in some states, Vermont included. I can only relocate to the edge of my property. Some woodchucks haven't made it that far .... when no one in the family knows one was trapped.

When I was young I would relocate, before I knew it was illegal. Then I just let everything multiple until I had issues.
Last 2 years or so, I have gotten 87 raccoons, almost as many opossums and bunches of chipmunk and now I'm after the pine squirrels. Getting those and not the gray squirrel is my current concern. I fenced off the garden I had stuff the rabbits liked. I am amazed that they are staying out. Only rabbit tracks in the winter are up by the house. Coyotes get them.
Although I think the rabbits ate holes in the poultry net in the winter when the fencer was not functioning

well, today I got the door back onto the wood burner
in the shop. the gasket sealed perfectly.
I lit a fire. it didn't take long before I was comfortable
with no jacket on. the outside temp was 43F.
I was burning some plum tree wood. I tried splitting some.
not going to do that again. the ax just gets stuck .
I think it would be interesting to turn some in a wood lathe.

cold, cloudy and windy.
today I hope to get the shop organized a little bit.
want to move the table saw and jointers around for
better work flow. I put LED lights in there. no more
shadows on the table etc. I did the same on the garage
side. now I want to put a couple in the lean to.
Menard's had a special. 40W for under $3.oo.

I would love to see what that wood looks like when planed or turned. I really like the look of some wood species. Fun to watch it change as the piece is worked. How long do you suppose you have to let the plum age before you can turn it?
