i never knew they bloomed, i grew up with wild ones in florida and never saw one like this, blooms, that is, very prettyVenus Fly Trap in bloom.

then that map is wrong, we have them down in the florida panhandle, in wet areas, unless they're talking about different species of venus flytraps, i always found it fascinating to see insects in the "throat" sometimes still alive trying to crawl outWhen I went looking for pictures of Venus Flytraps I came across a map that shows where they exist in the wild. with the way people are moving down here it may not be long before they are extinct down here, haven't been in a swampy area lately to see if they're still here but they used to beThat is great Sharron, happy to hear it. That area on the map was pretty small, seemed like extinction was more than likely.
Can it be that the ones in Florida Swamps are Mars Fly Traps.
