I remember you took the buckets in the truck bed and had them dump the soil you bought right into the buckets. I thought that was a great idea, if you had to buy dirt anyway.

I'm too cheap to buy dirt 😂 lol
Yes that was my truck and my DD. I sold the truck last fall and bought a trailer. Long story short, I have access to a big supply of free soil.
thanks to a guy who went into raising medical hemp and then gave up the idea when he found out there was work involved. lol
I use my cement mixer to mix potting soil. empty it into the tractor bucket and shovel it into the buckets. a twenty gallon batch takes about fifteen minutes from start to four bucketfuls.

I purchase bags of soil every year. I container grow much of my flowers and Sorrel. I do recycle the soil, but somehow, each year I still run short. I like to screen out the soil to remove the old roots,... and then I like to add peat-moss to it. Keeps soil fluffy light. Drains well.
Sure wish I had a supply of free top grade soil like you @jvls1942 or some of that cannabis growing.. I would bake brownies:frow:lau
Then again,,,,, my chickens would probably eat my tiny plants:drool,, and I would not be able to keep up with the extra feed needed to keep them happy:frow

Maybe my reason for needing more soil,,,,,,, :idunno I keep adding more containers each year:old... :gig:gig:highfive:

I used to grow in containers quite a bit.. mostly C. Chinense, C. Baccatum, C. Pubescens, C. Annuum C. Chacoense and many wild varieties, I grew over 700 varieties of peppers one year alone. 10 years ago..
I would grow 4 each of bell and banana. I usually would get 6 bell and a dz banana peppers total off those plants. Decided not worthwhile.

Some of my creations.. I bred my own chili peppers. I have 3 varieties I created myself, grew out over 8-10 years to stabilize the strain and I still see a few of my old chilihead friends are growing them.. I had my own micro chili collection, tiny little pods that packed a punch.. collected seed from all over the world..

What did you feed them? They don’t sound very happy..
compost and horse manure.
They definitely were not happy. Cooler temps until June and cools off in September. Not much of a growing season for warm weather crops.
Better than R2Elks though
