Gardening for Old Folks (Adaptative)

I would love to see what that wood looks like when planed or turned. I really like the look of some wood species. Fun to watch it change as the piece is worked. How long do you suppose you have to let the plum age before you can turn it?

I imagine you could turn the wood while it was green,
but the turning would probably crack as it dried.
this wood is three years since the tree blew down.
I wish I had a big band saw. I could make short boards.
it really smells sweet as it burns.
probably would be good for smoking meat.

I’m fixing to roast some veggies but the ones I have look pathetic compared to those! Are the purple carrots orange in the middle? Either way they are super nice!
Deep Purple is purple the whole way through once it is mature. I don't remember what the other purple variety is but they do have an orange core and are very sweet.

we didn't have a garden this year.
but we are lucky to have good friends.
Sally gave us all the apples we wanted to pick.
Yesterday Jim P . brought us some squash,
tomatoes and apples. said if we want more, just to
let him know.
Yesterday I redid the heat shield behind the stove
in the shop. It looks much better , now.
just for funzies, I lit a roaring fire to test it .
it works just fine. I used a couple of pieces of steel
siding . the 3/4" channels make excellent convection.
