So happy to see topic for geese here. We have two African geese. One is laying eggs and sitting on it through out the day & made a nest: covers it when not on it and all. Only 5 eggs so far. I cannot tell if the other is a male. I plan on candling at 10 days to see if eggs are fertile or should I wait until 30 eggs are laid?? They are almost a year old.

30 eggs is quite a bit for them to successfully sit and hatch.
If she continues laying while on the nest, I would check each day, and leave no more than 10-12 eggs in the nest, or however many your goose can cover completely when she's on the nest.

Agreed

Aw poor ladies. Do you know if it this plan would work: I purchase fertile geese egg from someone and replace them? Or is it better to incubate them myself?

Yes you sure can. Switch them out at night after they are setting good. I let my geese set their eggs then take the goslings. They hatch better than I've ever done in the incubator.
