I just got 4 English Orpingtons. They are 2 weeks old and One is already starting to fly and 2 of them are kinda taller. Does this mean anything?? The breeder checked them by their wings and their vent (something about a lip on the vent). Can some one help me out. I can post pictures throughout. Also is it common for them to have bad balance? One stumbles a lot. AND can they have treats..... one ate a worm. The yellow one with black wings started to try to fly today.

They sound fine. If they were cold they would cheep loudly and huddle together to get warm. If they were hot they would cheep loudly, pant and stand with their wings out. If they are playing and scratching, eating and drinking, they are just right.

I'm not sure if that has any meaning or not. Could just be how they are growing. I will say my experience in Orps is the males are much slower to feather out compared to pullets. Typically in their shoulders or between their wings. Tails are also slower but mine have been significantly slower to feather out and legs are usually 2x the size.

Yes , they will scratch from the moment they are born. I typically don't put mine on shavings for the first two or three weeks. Just to make sure they know what their food is but I have bought day old chicks that the breeder sent them home with shavings in the box. Shavings are much cleaner than paper towels or nothing in the bottom.

Treats shouldn't hurt them at this age as long as they are chicken-safe and they have access to chick grit. Size/development differences don't mean much either because you have different varieties and they'll have differences from each other. The stumbling seems odd. Is everything else about the chick okay?
Yes she is hungry and drinking and sleeps with the others.
