I have a pullet that I bought from a person on craigslist. They didn't have any knowledge on breeds, so I assume she is a Buff Orpington. Whats strange is her comb is completely smooth and flat. There's no ridge to it and she has a weird feather spot thats flipped up on the side of her head. I am currently collecting and incubating eggs and I concerned that she may have a deformity. Is there another breed that has a smooth comb? Why does she have a cow-lick on the side of her head?

I'm not sure what breed you do have but I don't think its an Orpington. It looks more like a cushion comb.
My best guess? A buff Chantecler - I have to warn you I'm rubbish as 'guess the breed' tho
OHHHHHHH! They have a cushion comb! Perfect match! I have never seen a cushion comb before and that looks just right. Thank you so much! Explains her crazy feather-do too!
