German New Hampshire

I wanted to say I am now a proud owner of some of the German line New Hampshires!!!! I am so EXCITED!!! I purchased them off of Kathy and I need to let folks know that this gal is the ultimate when it comes to dealing with her and the purchase of her stock! The time line of mailing chicks did not happen for her so her son delivered them to me; 217 miles one way! Now how is that for service. WOW, the only service that rivals that is old fashion house calls from your family doctor and horse drawn milk delivery! In other words service you can not find today, at least in this world.

The chicks are all doing well and Kathy threw in 4 more New Hampshires above and beyond my order! I ordered some of her olive eggers as well and she threw in extra olive eggers too. An for warmth, the warm hearted sweet as GOLD Delawares that she is raising. These Delawares are off the charts as far as temperament. They love people. Well all of her stock is VERY friendly.

I truly recommend anyone purchasing from Kathy. She has old fashion honesty and integrity is off the charts. She also cares about the birds. Some of the chicks were a little older and their care is nothing but a reflection of their former owner. The birds were beaming with health. Excellent weights, very friendly and as healthy as can be.

I chose the GERMAN New Hampshire because I was blown away by the COLOR and BEAUTY of the bird. I could not believe my eyes when I was looking at the picture. I called my husband in the room and said look at these chickens they are unbelievable. I thought I was looking at a "true artists" painting and it was a PHOTO!! Well, who needs the painting when the bird is truly more beautiful!

How fortunate I am to have dealt with Kathy and honored that she sold me some of her stock.
Next on my list is hopefully a couple of those beautiful Barred Rocks that she has. Another beautiful stunning bird! Kathy raises some incredible eye candy!! I will not even discuss her Wheatens........WOW!!!

THANK YOU KATHY!! Pictures will be coming soon. And yes, I plan to cull when needed but I will not cull to tone down color. That is what attracted me to the line!!

I'm happy for you,Soldier. Kathy is where i got my New hamps to about a year ago.I just hatched some more this morning.I think that makes 70 or 80 chicks.I have never been a big fan of barred rocks,But, oh my god Kathy are great and made me want to get some. Hey everybody,i.m putting some more new hampshire eggs on ebay tonight. My bator is full and i have chicks up to my eyeballs.

My chickens are doing great. They are real "social characters" coupled with being PURE eye candy.

I plan on heading to the fair with my birds to see how they do. As I told Kathy I can already smell the fair food and see the line up of some GREAT and COLORFUL German New Hampshire birds. I am sure folks at the fair will just be smitten when they see the glory of such a colorful wonder!

Wow, 70-80 GERMAN New Hampshires!!
Well, that tells me that these girls are not only pretty but they have not lost the traits they have been originally bred for. Meat and eggs - these German New Hampshires are no doubt a true Dual Purpose Heritage Using Chicken". Excellent egg layers and culls are full bodied enough to go into the pot.
One thing the Germans know how to do is to breed outstanding stock; be it dog, horse or even chicken.

I do really like the Barred Rock and would like to get a couple of hens for my flock. They have the old look of a heritage bird and ad that look to a flock. I like a bird that is pretty coupled with productive.

I was talking to a friend last night and we where talking about the German New Hampshire's. Do any of you know how these birds where improted into the USA. What do you have to go through to get other breeds such as Rose Comb Rhode Isand Red large fowl or Silver Gray Dorkings brought from Germany to the USA. How much would it cost if they where given to you free?

Did they get eggs or live birds.I have never heard how this was done.

Love to here if you know how the man who did get these here go about dong this.

I do not know what year the German New Hampshires were originally imported but import requirements constantly change due to different threats and diseases such as bird flu. I would contact USDA and find out what the current requirements for importation of poultry from Germany are. Here is the website for import/export USDA-APHIS. They will have your answers.

Hey there Bob the GNH and the GNHxAmerican crosses that Mrs. Kathy has and a lot of us have now are direct descendants out of the Jo Jefferson stock. He is the original importer of the NHs from Germany that Doug Akers acquired and has been working on. So that's who I'd check with about the importation of such stock.

Joe brought back eggs from two lines.

Importing birds seams to be as much time, work, and paperwork as it is money. It is expensive. I looked over the requirements and left it at that. Someone that has actually done it would be who could help.
