Getting farm chores done when you have a baby - any tips?

I got 2 ounces into her by bottle yesterday!! I waited till she was fed, changed and sound asleep (not at all frustrated was the goal). Then I gently got that bottle nipple in her mouth and waited and she started drinking. After a while she woke up though, and as soon as she opened her eyes and saw me, she 'forgot' how to drink using the nipple. She just kept looking at me like, where's the real thing. But after I bf her, I got her drinking from the bottle again and she finished it while awake. Sooo.... I'm thinking I might get those coops clean after Christmas. Hurrah!

How long is she going between feedings? cant hubby clean the coops?

She's unpredictable. And I couldn't have DH clean the coops. He's not a chicken guy, so he doesn't get it. I might twist his arm, but then I'd have to go in there and 'fix' things when he was done anyways. We'd both much rather have him watch the little one while I clean

I never ran a farm when my DD's were little--they are 21, 26 and 29, respectively now, BUT, I had between 5-7 horses, kept 7 miles away, and I ran a small riding academy. I did all of my own horse chores around my DH's work schedule. If I was in my 20's with my current property, I'd just keep an infant inside, with one of my dogs, and do my chores during naps, as has already been suggested. Your infant is gonna be closer to sitting up and crawling by the time you're gardening in 2010, and that will change how you manage. Just plan on keeping her out of the sun, and away from the bugs, and she'll be happy watching you work.
The moms who suggest you cannot do it are actually afraid that you'll be able to do it, and do it well! NEVER underestimate the cattiness of women. I often do, to my chagrin. Think of yourself as training for a marathon. You'll find yourself getting into TERRIFIC shape doing all of this. The only difference will be cutting some corners, and giving a few jobs "a lick and a polish". Think about the jobs now that don't require lavish attention. I knew a couple of guys that worked at a stable one summer. The two of them cleaned and re-bedded 50 stalls/day. One would clean, the other bed. They put all of the fresh bedding in the center of the stall because the horse will spread it out just walking around, so why waste valuable time spreading it yourself? When I was young I would spend an entire day cleaning my bedroom! Now, it takes me about 2 hours to TOTALLY tidy one up. See the difference?

2010 is gonna be the best year for you! You'll be making memories. And, think about the memories you'll be giving your DD!

Yeah, seriously you are capable! I put my kids in the playpen when they were babies and put a shade over it or put it in the shade and did my work.
