Getting New Pigeon

Getting him/her a mate IMO is a good idea, as without one he/she will continue to act like you and/or your GF are its mate, which is what its doing in that video, expecting you home, wanting you home, pacing and strutting for you to impress you. Although it might take some time for it to give up thinking you guys are its mate and warm up to his species match mate, it will eventually key in and almost certainly pair up.

If you can sex your bird and determine gender, I do recommend considering getting the same sex for its mate, otherwise you will have a porch full of a few dozen birds within a year. Same sex pairings are not uncommon even if they have opposite sex choices, but if they only have choice of the same sex I think they are still apt to pair up.

In my experience, same sex pairing only worked when;
Females,,,,,,, paired up and stayed friendly.
Males,,,,,,,,,, only stayed friendly if they grew up together (brothers)
Males,,,,,,,, introduced when adults, fought for dominance, unless they had a female to pair up with. Then they (males) tolerated each other.
(how a typical loft operates)
If lone pigeon is a male, I don't think another grown adult male is the solution. JMO:(
