Ghost????

Ok, I thought I would add our own ghost stories....Just because I don't believe doesn't mean weird things have never happend. I spent alot of time at my mimis house and hers was haunted according to the family. Never once did I see a ghost but felt creepy at times....probably just from the hype of it all. Anywho my DH has the best one....

When he was 17 yrs old he went camping down the river with one of his buddies. There was this big bank about 15 feet high and the river was at the bottom. Lee, the buddy, was already asleep in his hammock and the fire was out. My dh said it was out almost completly, no glowing coals or anything. He walked down to the river to fish a little more (it is about 2 AM he said) He found an arrowhead earlier that afternoon at that same spot too. OK, he says he is sitting there and all of the sudden the fire just blows up and this huge flashing of what appeared to be the fire raging up full blown and a man without a shirt with long hair standing in front of the fire looking at my DH. My DH said he ran up the bank as fast as he could because he was thinking maybe 4-wheelers or trucks or something with people have pulled up maybe. He gets to the top of the bank and the fire is dead cold, Lee is sound asleep with a shirt on, and there is no sign of anything. He said it was the spirit of the indian that that arrowhead must have belonged to.

Now, my DH is one of the most honest men in the whole world and would never tell a lie so I believe he saw something but also I know he used to smoke a little 'whacky backy' back then too so uhm....LOL who knows!

Still you wouldn't believe the weird things that can take place...especially in old places....but there is always an explanation if it is searched......I still don't believe in ghosts though.....I spent my whole childhood intrigued with this stuff and spent countless times in haunted houses, graveyards, and where ghost activity were to take place. I encountered strange things but never a ghost....it is all in the head IMO - notice folks, I said IMO....

For 13 years we lived in a house built in 1895. We lovingly restored and changed it over the years. We never had any strange experiences, and it was a beautiful home that very few families had lived in.

After our first child was born, we painted and put up wallpaper border in the room at the top of the stairs for a nursery. Our bedroom was next to it, but not at the top of the stairs. Again, my husband and I had no strange experiences.

When our son was 3, he began telling me about the green/black man that walked up and down the stairs. He was never afraid of the green/black man, but just conversationally told me that he saw him all the time. Eventually he began to call the man "Frank". I didn't know any "Frank", but had heard the name on television and assumed that is where my son got the name. DH and I assumed "Frank" was an imaginary friend of our child - someone entirely out of his own making. Oddly, "Frank" never talked but just walked up/down stairs and to the nursery door.

When we were about to move, we retrieved the abstract of the house, a long legal document. The man who owned the house for over 55 years was named "Frank", and was the guardian of our nursery- I believe. I guess I am thankful for that in my own way.

I think alot of people don't want to think about the possibility of "people" you cannot see, in your home, watching you all the time. Like while you take a shower, while dressing, being intimate with your spouse, etc.
When I think of it like that, it creeps me out too!

But seriously, there are many different types of "ghosts", here are the main 3 types of hauntings:

Residual hauntings are by far the most common, and are often compared to the data stored on a video recorder. The extreme energy emitted at the time of the tragedy is recorded onto the environment. When you experience the sound of phantom footsteps, images, apparitions or scents, what you are actually experiencing is a recorded playback of what happened in the past. There is no interaction with the living -- the ghost does not see or hear you because the ghost is not actually there. Only his energy remains, it is a remnant of his living form that you are seeing, just like when you watch a video. This cycle continues in the same place at usually the same time of day or year indefinitely until the energy is exhausted or diminishes to a low enough level that it is undetectable by human perception.

Traditional, or intelligent, hauntings are extremely rare, and yet these are the hauntings that people are most familiar with. If you've ever seen the movie "The Sixth Sense", you'll recall that Hayley Joel Osmond's character could hear, see, and speak with the ghosts around him. These were actual human spirits that had not crossed over into heaven and had some unfinished business with a living person, or a message they wanted to deliver before they could move on. The spirit is either so emotionally connected to his loved ones that he refuses to pass, or his death happened so quickly that he has not yet realized he is dead, and thus continues to live as though he were not. These ghosts will unlock doors and open windows, run the faucets and even interact with you directly because they are an "intelligent" presence, the personality of a person who was once alive but has stayed behind rather than passing over.

The third type of haunting, and undoubtedly the most frightening, is a demonic, or inhuman, haunting. In this case, the entity is similar to a traditional haunting because the spirit is intelligent and is existing in the present moment with you. Unfortunately, the emotion that is tying them to the earthly realm is usually anger. These spirits are malevolent and hostile, suffering from psychological instability or distress stemming from an unresolved conflict with the people who are being subjected to the demonic activity. Demonic presences tend to be ‘unleashed' in order for them to manifest. This is one reason why the use of a Ouija Board is customarily discouraged among many ghost hunters. As Carl Johnson of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) put it, "...while some of these devices may at first appear to be utterly harmless and regarded as tools to aid in tapping into one's subconsciousness, the results can be likened to leaving open one's back door in a country setting. Now, you may only have some little squirrels and chipmunks wander into your kitchen, but odds are that eventually you'll find yourself facing down a bear, maybe a small cub, IF YOU'RE LUCKY. And keep in mind, where there's one "bear," others are lurking somewhere close by!"

The things we experience in my home are MAINLY residual.

Someone mentioned that by the bricks the child would have been around 52" tall...

That is 4' 4"...
My son is about to turn 9 in August and he is 54" tall.
He is on the high end height wise for his age and his weight is on the high end too (Daddy is 6'2"). But wow, that's close.
It is entirely possible that a child from that era wouldn't have been as tall or weigh as much as children do now who don't eat the same things and all that. He also could have been leaning down or over to look out the window, thus not being at his full height. Adults were not as tall usually back them either and didn't live as long as we do now.

We have spirits in our home, shadows mostly, although when we built, the carpet guy was pure Iroquois Indian, and he freaked because he "saw" someone standing in the corner? Our friend, Nan speaks to those passed. ( nationally known, google / search Nan Obrien) She says they really go nowhere, and they are always around. They give privacy when needed, and often help in your "decisions". Dreams, and your personalities are all part of who you were in past lives, and those to come. I like varied things from writing, (she says I was a scribe in a past life) and prospecting, (she says definately a prospector, big floppy hat, big gold pan, scruffy looking ) We choose our lives, some sad some great, all to gain knowledge, even though sometimes some of us have a tough life, with loss, poverty, etc. But we get stronger, with each little test. and when we "go home" we share that bit of knowledge with the "others". There were only a couple people who experienced it all in one lifetime, and one was Mother Theresa she says. Either way, we are never alone. I believe in something much greater than what we have, and I envy those that are there waiting for me to share my knowlede. So yes, that really is a spirit in that window,,,,,,,,,,,but only if the people with the photo, are truthful.

I don't know about them not being as tall back then, most of my ancestors then were in the 6 foot 5 range (men), most of us now are 6'2-6'3.

You know what, you're right. It's the life spans that were shorter, not the heights really. But kids all grow at different paces. That predicted height of 52" inches is certainly in the normal range on todays charts for a 9 year old boy.

I'll add my own little spirit tale.

My mom had passed away about 2 weeks prior to this. She died of pancreatic cancer. My Labrador is scared to DEATH of the back hallway. He hates tile and lenolium floors and will not go onto them for any reason. You have to carry him in the vet's office.

That's the background info.

I was sitting in the living room, and my lab, Thunder NEVER leaves my side. This time, he got that labrador "look"...the one where the ears go forward, the brow creases, the jowels droop...and then he walked into my parent's bedroom. He never leaves, my side, as I said, so I followed him after he didn't come back for a few minutes. I went into the bedroom, called him, he didn't come. I didn't look in the closet which connects to the bathroom (lenoliumed all the way through to the garage) because he never goes in there.

After 5 more minutes, I see if he's in there. He is standing, wagging his tail looking at some place in the closet. I turn on the light and nothing is there. I stand there watching him wondering what he's doing and get this "feeling". It was cold, but it wasn't warm. It wasn't ticklish, but made my hair stand up on my neck.

I walked back to where my dad was and told him to go pick up his socks in the bathroom. (Thunder is still in there.) I didn't want to tell him what I suspected, in case I got put into therapy...

He came back with tears in his eyes and the same feeling I'd had. A few minutes later, Thunder came back out into the living room, and started looking at the door frame that connects my parent's bedroom to the living room. My brother was the only one who hadn't gone to look in the closet, and he was in the living room. After a few more minutes, Thunder lost the "lab" look and went back to sitting beside me.

I have this odd feeling, that my mom wanted to make sure we were alright.

When my mom got sick, Thunder didn't leave her side. He would lay at her feet and she would stick her feet under him to get them warm. He'd stay there for hours at a time...without moving at all. When we moved mom to my grandparents house for full-time care, Thunder never stopped looking for my mom. When she died, he stopped looking.

That's awesome! She is / was there,,,,,,,,,dogs DO KNOW you know,,,they can see what we can't. It's a great feeling,knowing they're there,,,close. That's the coolnes you feel,,thier energy.
