Going to try this again .... Flock attacking mama hen

I've never had this problem and my hens hatch out chicks all the time. I think what I would do if this was happening with my hens is separate the attack hen and let mama and chicks mingle with the others. She won't like it and will eventually lose some status, which in theory will calm her temperament. I'd keep her penned for a few days then let her out and see how it goes.

I agree. Separate the trouble maker and see if everyone else is ok. Otherwise you are going to have no choice and have to keep mom and chicks separate.

I have a hen that goes broody all the time... She was always top of the pecking order until this last time... I think because I let her be broody too long... One of my other hens started pecking at her in aggression when she would come off the nest. ( She didnt hatch any babies ). When I finally broke her broodiness, the pecking order was re-established and peace has once again been restored.

I allowed them to sort it out, but keeping an eye out for any pecking that resorted into blood shed, luckily, it never got that bad.

Good luck!
