I'm a very new chick owner, my chicks are about 2 weeks old. I thought that two of them were Buff Orpingtons, but I just looked at the paperwork from the feed store and it says they are actually Golden Buffs. I did a little reading on this site about that breed and it says they are usually very docile. The two chicks I have go nuts when I give them treats and will push the others out of the way to get to my hand. They also fuss and squawk the most when held. In other words, they don't seem very docile. Should I expect them to become more relaxed as they get older, or is chick personality indicative of adult personality?

I wouldn't worry about their personality just yet - what you are seeing sounds like pretty normal chick behavior and they have plenty of time to grow into mature, reasonable adults with better manners

Thanks! They were as nutty as ever tonight, but one of them did consent to being held by my 6 year old for a minute so I'm going to consider that to be progress!
