Golden Laced Wyannadotte Can't Walk

If you can't afford a vet, you can try calling one anyways and see if they can just give you some advice on how to proceed. For now, really just let her stay immobilized, make it so she is able to reach water without moving, and let her just relax. A vet might be willing to waive the fee if you make a good case for why you're not able to pay any or the full amount. it's worth a try. You'll have to be very clear on providing them with information about what exactly happened.

I agree with muell12 in every respect. Especially if you have a regular vet for other animals, she/he might make an exception on fees for you. I also knew vets that would really slash the regular office visit fee for a minor if they knew that the minor was the responsible party and was paying for the visit. It does not hurt at all to ask - you have nothing to lose.

Don't worry, honey - sit tight, be a good nurse - take care of the bird's needs and don't bother her too much, and call a vet on Monday to see if you can get a professional opinion.

I'll keep checking back on her progress.

Wow, really? Why? Did your parents say specifically you aren't allowed to call a vet for free advice? Can you have a friend call for you? I don't know what they would hinder you from attempting to get your animals access to care. You do what you think is best for your own situation but if I were in your shoes, I would see how the bird does today and if there is no improvement or worsening, I would ask a friend for assistance. Again, I don't see what the problem would be associated with seeking free services

I would suggets asking your parents for some help.
Calling a vet isnt costing anything and they should understand that the chicken is in pain. Have them call the vet and just ask afew questions. If you have other animals I am sure you have a family vet you take them to? If so .. call him/her.

ETA.. I have the feeling the OP is very very young judgeing from the posts..that might have something to do with her not beeing allowed to call the vet on her/his own.

her swelling has went down alot!! I am starting to think she may have a twisted ancle or something like that. I have watched her and her leg is moving an I think in a week she may get better. Do you think putting ice on her foot will make the swelling go down?
