Golden Laced Wyannadotte Can't Walk

Putting ice on an injury will only help within the first 24 hours. So no, now it is just inflammation that must go down.

Now, can you PLEASE take a photo of the bird? Without photos we are really only able to see what you are attempting to describe to us. She could have broken a toe, bruised a bone, bruised the pad under her foot, have bumblefoot, etc.

I would say it is best to leave her alone as much as possible. She is going in the right direction, so I would continue as you are - keep her separated from the others and protected from the elements (wind, rain, hot sun), let her rest, keep her food and water close to her, and keep her bedding clean.

I'm glad you have seen so much improvement since yesterday. I'll keep checking back - keep us posted on how she is doing!

She seems scared to put any wait on it. She is verry happy. This is weird: When I put her to bed at night she starts peeping EXTREMELY loudly. Also, thank you, about the good nurse thing.

<3<3 I <3 Chickens <3<3 :

her swelling has went down alot!! I am starting to think she may have a twisted ancle or something like that. I have watched her and her leg is moving an I think in a week she may get better. Do you think putting ice on her foot will make the swelling go down?

I'd suggest just leaving her alone for now. It sounds like she is keeping herself immobilized where she is. Just make sure she gets adequate food and water, and poops normally.

In the future, try not to panic! Constant bumping is against the rules, and you were actually slowing the responses from others. Remember- stay calm so the hen stays calm, ok?

Good luck, keep us all posted, she's a very pretty hen.

Just to let you all know.........

I am verry calm. the reason why I poast continueously (no the best speller) Is because I, like moast people, care about my chickens and want them to get the best for them. I hope this doesn't sond rude (i didn't intend it to) but I am VERRY calm
